3D vision system for defects control of Steering Housing
As part of the vision systems for die-casting, Imago has developed Anglerfish, a machine for 3D check of the piece integrity after the trimmig phase. In particular, Anglerfish inspects the flatness and regularity of trimmed areas, detecting any cracks, excesses or lacks of material up to 0.2 mm and total or partial occlusions of the holes. This way, it is possible to prevent some flaws which would otherwise be visible only after the machining, thus avoiding waste.
Anglerfish for Steering Housing is a particular Anglerfish vision system, recently conceived by Imago for detection and control of the defects of steering housing after the trimming phase. The check is carried out through a 3D control system that can examine pieces of any shape and complexity.
The new vision system inspects a part in a few seconds by comparing it with a dynamic and constantly updated reference, and is able to identify various kinds of defects through the use of the most advanced technological tools in the category: complete 3D reconstruction of the part with multi-acquisition; high resolution multi-camera scanning and laser triangulation; total and detailed 3D analysis on 360°; alignment, filtering and distance calculation of both reference and target.
Thanks to the innovative self-learning system, the device is able to recognize the tolerable variability of the piece; this feature enables the comparison, from time to time, with a dynamic and constantly updated template. Anglerfish for Steering Housing guarantees a safe use by operators and allows an easy and immediate format change. The interface is intuitive thanks to the touch screen panel that allows access to manual test and calibration commands and shows diagnostic messages. Moreover, the machine is equipped with acoustic and light signals for better interaction.
