Laser welding of plastics brings economic and technical advantages and has already become established in many sectors. LPKF Laser & Electronics AG and LaserMicronics are taking advantage of this development to show laser welding systems at MEDTEC Europe in Stuttgart. Medical engineering is a field where laser welding of plastics can really score points: The method is very hygienic, economic, and safe, and the extensive quality assurance measures in the process are perfect for the special requirements of medical products. From April 21-23, LPKF will be at MEDTEC Europe in Stuttgart (Hall 5, Stand D41) exhibiting PowerWeld 2000, a multi-talent in the field of laser plastic welding. Depending on the model, this stand-alone system is used for small, medium, and large-scale serial production. With its various laser sources and handling options, the PowerWeld 2000 adapts to the specific production conditions of the customer. Using practical examples, application and production specialists will be providing information on the rest of the portfolio, including integration systems and robot-assisted welding systems for large components. LaserMicronics GmbH is a production service provider with LPKF systems. At the LPKF stand, LaserMicronics will be presenting current applications and products that have been joined using laser welding of plastics. As part of the construction of new production facilities in Fürth, a clean room is presently being built in line with purity class 5 cGMP. Beginning in May, high-precision microfluidics components will be produced there using two optimized PowerWeld 2000 laser welding systems.
